Forest Resonance

Forest sound exploration with Vicki Moulder and Joanne Morra

In this experimental work Joanne Morra and Vicki Moulder traveled to the Olympic Peninsula, Washington, USA. Through a stethoscope they listen to the sounds of trees. Trees don’t have heart beats; instead you hear the movement of mic over the contour of the bark and other kinds of movement. Listening to these sounds informed Morra’s vocalizations and Moulder’s sculptural process. Vocalizations were recorded and processed on site. Sculptural objects were designed to resonate with the forest.
